Vietnamese Dishes

-
The static site I made showcases my culture and cuisine. It provides a brief overview of popular Vietnamese dishes and includes recipe guides for each.
-
The project started as a school assignment, but I wanted to make it more meaningful. I aimed to create something that reflects both my identity and the culture I proudly support.
-
In my Junior year, I took a web design course that taught me the basics of web design. I learned HTML, CSS, and how to create a simple static website.
-
I designed the site to reflect Vietnamese culture and successfully launched it on IU's server, making it accessible to everyone. Through this project, I have gained deeper web design skills.
Home page
The home page of the site offers twelve authentic Vietnamese dishes from the culture. Users can hover over each card to activate an effect and then click on them. This action will direct the user to a separate page with the recipe for that specific dish. Alternatively, users can click on the 'Recipes' link in the navigation bar to view all recipes in text format and navigate to their desired recipe.
About page
On the about page, users can find more information about me and the reasons behind the creation of this site based on Vietnamese culture. I have kept the description concise to avoid overwhelming visitors with too much text at once. By utilizing typography and maintaining consistency, I aimed to highlight the important questions that users may have when exploring the site.
Restaurants Page
The restaurants page prominently features a selection of local Vietnamese cuisine that reflects the rich culinary traditions of the region. It includes detailed information about four restaurants that I have personally visited and tried, along with links to their Google reviews so that users can explore additional insights and feedback from other diners.
Recipe Pages
The recipe pages follow a similar layout, with slight changes in wording and text style. Users can find the recipe for the dish they want to make. Each page also features an image, the same as on the home page, showing what the dish should look like when prepared using that recipe.
